Representatives of the Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA) visited the Belene NPP site today to get acquainted with the equipment supplied to the plant, said the Ministry of Energy. The delegation, which is on a working visit to Bulgaria, also includes CNNC, the Chinese Nuclear Energy Corporation (CGN) and the State Nuclear Energy Technology Corporation (SNPTC).

Their visit to Bulgaria is one of the first initiatives to implement the Memorandum of Understanding on Peaceful Uses signed by China's Li Kutjiang State Council Chairman in the beginning of July this year between the Ministry of Energy and the Chinese National Energy Administration of nuclear energy. The document seeks to strengthen the partnership by encouraging exchanges of information on the regulatory framework, country programs and practices, licensing procedures, participation in joint workshops, conferences and working groups, exchange of experts and others.
The guests were welcomed by the Executive Director of "National Electric Company" EAD Petar Iliev, who introduced them on the spot with the measures implemented for the storage of the equipment supplied by Atomstroyexport on the site of Belene NPP. The site of the plant is 2500 acres, and the necessary work spaces for the operation of Belene are built. The necessary roads, the train line, the port and the concrete junction are also built. It remains to be built the reactor compartment and the turbine hall.
