The Bulgarian government has approved a decrease in the base national fee for aero navigation servicing of aircrafts crossing the territory of Bulgaria. An official announcement informs that the fee was decreased from EUR 39.77 to EUR 36.56. On the other hand the government opted to increase the interest on delayed payments with 0.57% to 11.57%.

The changes in the fee and the interest rate have been coordinated and approved by Eurocontrol.

Today the government also announced that new security and noise fees have been introduced. The security fee for Varna airport is EUR 1.77 per passenger by end-2012, EUR 4.36 per passenger in 2013 and would eventually reach EUR 5.42 in 2014. For Burgas airport the security fee will change as follows: EUR 1.21 (2012), EUR 2.92 (2013) and EUR 4.32 (2014). Noise fees for these airports will be introduced as of 2013. The fee will be formed by multiplying the base unit of EUR 3.74 by the noise coefficient which equals the difference between the approved noise levels and the noise produced by the type of the aircraft.
