Utilities Magazine and the online portal Publics.bg renewed the traditional Students School on economics and management in energy, infrastructure, and utilities with this year’s edition, which took place on September 24-28 in Sofia. The training also included an industrial visit to the coal TPP ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3 and was supported also by RilaGas and Dalkia Bulgaria.
The program of the students school included 5 modules:
State Policy in Energy, Infrastructure, Public Services and Utilities
Green Energy Investments
Environment and Water Sector Investments
Regulation of Energy & Utilities Services
Energy & Utilities Corporate Management
Twenty Bulgarian students from national and international universities in their last year at Bachelor and Master degrees, as well as PhD students, took part in the training. They were selected after applications with CVs and motivation letters. Part of the students have graduated from or will be studying in the Master Program “Economics and Management in Energy, Infrastructure, and Utilities” at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. This year the program starts the education of its eighth class for Bachelors in Economics and in other majors.
The program of the Students School included lectures from over 30 managers and experts from the following sectors: electric power, heating, natural gas, water and wastewater, postal services, facility management, etc.
As part of the training program, in the last day the participants had an industrial visit at TPP ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3, where they attended lectures from the power plant’s management on health & safety, environment, and technology. After the lectures, the students also visited some of the key components of the power plant – the control room of units 1 and 2, the turbine hall, the FGDs, etc.
