Sofia choose Škoda to deliver 50 articulated low-floor trolleybuses
Czech company has won the tender part of fleet renew program of Stolichen Electrotransport

Skoda Electric is the winner in a tender for delivering 50 new articulated trolleybuses to Sofia. The new articulated low-floor trolleybuses will have air-conditioning and a small diesel engine. The Czech company has won the tender in a competition with the Russian company “Trans-Alfa Electric”.

The estimated cost of the contract will be 27,5 miln BGN (13,9 mln Euro). The purchase is a part of an integrated public transport project in Sofia worth about 50 mln. euro . The EU operational program “Regional Development” will provide 43 mln. euro and the rest of the amount will be financed by the municipal budget.

Stolichen Electrotransport (Sofia Elektrotransport) is the Sofia's public transport operator. The company is part of Sofia Urban Mobility Center. The company operates the tramways and trolleybuses in Sofia. Stolichen Elektrotranspot operates 9 trolleybus lines with network lenght of 193 km and a fleet of 112 articulated trolleybuses. Stolichen Electrotransport started fleet renewable program with purchasing 30 new 18 metres, low floor, airconditioned Skoda 26 TR Solaris trolleybuses in 2010.
