Varna Will Host the Black Sea Facility Management Summer Academy
During the certified educational course the participants will meet FM professionals from Central and Eastern Europe and participate in discussions and practice oriented workshops

The first edition of the Black Sea Facility Management Summer Academy (BSFMSA) will take place early September in Varna, Bulgaria. The educational facility management course is organized by consultants from Facility Management Consulting (FMC) with the support of Karlsruhe Institute for Technology and the consultancy firm Reality Consult, Austria. The 4-day BSFMSA is scheduled for September 8 - 10, 2011
 
In many countries in Western Europe facility management has been long ago recognized as an important discipline for the stability of any organization and with the time this has led to traditions and best practices. On the contrary facility management in Eastern Europe is a young market where best practice and traditions have not yet been laid and many organizations have not yet recognized the need of a strategic approach to facility management. In this relation the countries with a well developed FM market give trampled down paths in terms of experience in the FM field. 
 
The aim of the course BSFMSA is to make you familiar with specific best practices and approaches that have proved to be efficient in the various processes part of the professional management of built assets. A major role in smoothening the management of built assets plays the contract management with various service providers included in the process, which has led to the need for standards for facility management.
 
The course will include best practices and case studies from the following facility management fields:
  • Contract management – rental contracts, maintenance contracts and service contracts
  • Operating expenses
  • Outsourcing
  • Building enrollment and audit
  • Space management during the lifecycle
  • Data and document management
During the course you will meet FM professionals from Eastern European countries and participate in discussions and practice oriented workshops. The participants
in the BSFMSA will receive a certificate from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, which is worldwide known for its expertise in the FM matters.
 
The main speakers of the course will be the experienced facility management professionals prof. Dr.-Ing. Kunibert Lennerts, Karlsruhe Institute for Technology and Mr. Peter Prischl, CEO of Reality Consult.
