Bulgarian ICT Companies Called for EU Funding

Bulgarian ICT companies, universities and institutes have the possibility to participate in a total of 8 tenders, which were called on June 20 by the European Commission. The total amount of the funding is more than EUR 1,2 bn, from the Bulgarian Ministry of transport, information technology and communications.
The 8th Competition on ICT with the Seventh Framework Programme has a budget of EUR 787 m. projects by consortiums and institutions of several countries in the fields of nanoelectronic and photonic systems, ICT for low-carbon development and internet access to cultural resources are eligible.
The competition ICT for Green Cars - 2012 would provide EUR 30 m funding for eco-friendly vehicle designs. Projects for this event can be submitted by December 1, 2011. By this time applications can be submitted for the Energy-Efficient Buildings – 2012 tender, which has allocated EUR 140 m for the future winners.

The ministry itself is acting as coordinator of the ICT subject within the Seventh Framework Programme and the ICT Policy Support of the Framework Programme Competitiveness. During the last two years, Bulgarian companies have profited from more than EUR 10 m funding by taking part in tenders.
