The Bulgarian Ministry of economy, energy, and tourism announced that the Bulgarian minister Mr. Traicho Traikov has met with his Kosovo colleague Ms. Justina Shiroka Pula and discussed the possibilities to renew electricity exports from Bulgaria to Kosovo. The two ministers have signed a Memorandum for cooperation in the energy sector. The document includes the creation of a mutual workgroup which will discuss mutually beneficial aspects of energy, mining, coal power plants, heating plants, renewable energy, etc.
Kosovo has started restructuring of its mining sector, as well as a construction of a new electric plant with capacity of 500 MW, also announced the Bulgarian ministry of energy. Bulgaria could help Kosovo with highly-qualified experts and experience in these activities, announced at the official ceremony minister Traikov.
Minister Shiroka-Pula underlined the importance of the Memorandum for the development of the energy sector in her country. She also expressed satisfaction from the future cooperation with Bulgaria which is an EU member. Ms. Shiroka-Pula said that the two countries have many common topics in their industrial development and the Bulgarian experience will be valuable to Kosovo.
According to the Memorandum, Bulgarian experts will share their experience in the modernization of mining companies in Kosovo. Bulgaria could help in the process of building a national policy for renewable energy and energy efficiency policies. Bulgarian companies may as well participate in tenders for the implementation of energy projects in Kosovo.
