The Bulgarian minister of transport, information technology and communications and the Serbian minister of commerce Slobodan Milosavlevic signed the closing protocol from the First Intergovernmental session for economic partnership. This was announced by the press office of the Bulgarian transport ministry.
During the preparation of the protocol the two ministers discussed the construction of a gas supply system interconnection between Serbia and Bulgaria and the possible participation of Serbia in the construction of Bulgaria’s new nuclear power plant to be built in Belene. They also tackled the topic of South Stream gas pipeline.
The two countries will also coordinate the investments in the modernization of their railroad infrastructure, Minister Tsvetkov said. There is a substantial progress in the modernization of the electric grid of the Nis – Dimitrovgrad line. The two sides talked about the Bulgarian request for change of the Agreement for border control and procedures concerning the railroad traffic which has to comply with the Schengen codex, as well as stated their will to settle the financial matters regarding the debts of Serbian National Railroad company to the Bulgarian railroad transport operator BDZ.
