The water utility in the Bulgarian capital Sofia - Sofiyska Voda (SV) announced today that it is pleased with the fact that the State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC/DKEVR) published  its final decision on the 2011 tariffs for water and wastewater services provided by the company. This will contribute to maintaining a satisfactory investment level achieved over the last two years, the press office of the company said. The whole Company profit will be reinvested again and there will be no dividend distribution to SV shareholders as it has been so far. All the profits will be reinvested.

Sofiyska Voda will continue its close cooperation with the Municipality of Sofia to help to fulfill its wish to implement more investments in the water and wastewater sector of Sofia as well as to improve further the services it provides to the citizens of Sofia. The integration of SV in the Veolia Water group is advancing and improvements in the services provided by the company will be very soon noticeable to its customers.

Within a short period of time, on the basis of the new tariffs, SV will prepare its calculations of the volumes of investments the company will be able to make in 2011. The 2011 investment programme will then be agreed with and approved by the Municipality of Sofia and the Sofia Municipal Council and in compliance with the current 5-year Business Plan of Sofiyska Voda.

Ivan Ivanov, the Executive director of the Company, reminded that this year new facilities for Sofia sewerage system and wastewater treatment, constructed with EU funds, will be commissioned. The larger part of the increased tariff of water and wastewater services covers the extra expenses for the operation and maintenance of the new facilities. “As a result, we are to restore the eco-balance in the Iskar River where all treated wastewater of Sofia is discharged”, Ivan Ivanov added.
