Intermodal Transport Cluster to Be Created
The cluster will aim at modernizing the country’s infrastructure and enhancing its innovative potential

The creation of a future cluster for intermodal transport was discussed during a work meeting of the Bulgarian Industrial Association (BIA). BIA’s general director Kiril Zheliazkov presented the project for the cluster.

He introduced BIA’s current experience in cluster creation stressing EU’s favor for the integrated approach to linking business and education. The creation of a transport cluster can be funded within operational programmes such as Transport and Competitiveness.

The cluster would unite companies in the spedition, transport, logistics, as well as scientific organizations, higher education institutions and administration. The cluster will concentrate on the creation of a transport center in the area of port Burgas on the Black Sea. The project is known as “Super Burgas” and foresees the creation of warehouses, offices, etc. which will be accessible to all the companies in the cluster, covering different types of transport. The transport center will be managed by one single authority which is yet to be decided whether state or private.

The cluster will aim at modernizing the country’s infrastructure and enhancing its innovative potential.
