07.12.2010 14:20- The memorandum was signed by the Chinese and the Bulgarian ministers in Beijing

The press-center of the Bulgarian Ministry of Transport, IT and Communication announced that today in Beijing, China, a Memorandum for cooperation in railroad transport development is signed between Republic of Bulgaria and the People’s Republic of China. The document was signed by the Bulgarian minister Aleksander Tsvetkov and his Chinese counterpart - the Chinese minister of railways Liu Zhijun. The document was signed during the Seventh international congress for high-speed railroad transportation.
The memorandum defines the spheres of cooperation, namely transit through Bulgaria on the Eurasian transport corridors, modernization of existing infrastructure, research for rail technologies, including development of high-speed rail, exchange of experts, etc. During the meeting between ministers Liu Zhijun and Aleksander Tsvetkov, the specific actions following the signing of the memorandum were discussed. An expert group from China will explore the possibility for joint production of railroad cars and locomotives in Bulgaria following EU rules and requirements.
Minister Tsvetkov also met with the minister of transport of China Li Shenglin and discussed the creation of a contact expert group for defining mutual cooperation in maritime, river and air transportation. During the Chinese forum it is expected minister Tsvetkov to also meet his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim and to visit the railroad cars factory CSR Corporation Limited.
