Biwater Holdings Limited announced this week that it had agreed to sell its UK based subsidiary Biwater Services Limited (BSL) to MWH Constructors Limited, the UK construction arm of MWH Global Inc. (MWH). The sale of BSL will allow BHL to exit the regulated UK water market and focus its strategy on the core international business. The sale is part of wider strategic realignment for BHL and follows the disposal of its interest in Cascal NV, the NYSE listed operator of water and wastewater treatment plants, in July 2010.

BSL is a wholly-owned subsidiary but substantially independent business unit of BHL based in Heywood, Manchester. The company acts as the holding company for Biwater Treatment Limited, Farrer Consulting Limited and BiProduct Recovery Limited.

Biwater Treatment Limited is a U.K. based engineering contractor in the water and wastewater treatment sector with a longstanding reputation for design and engineering excellence. The company is primarily active in designing and project managing the construction of water and wastewater treatment plants for regulated water companies across the U.K.

Biwater Holdings Limited designs and constructs water and wastewater treatment plants and leisure facilities internationally. It also provides packaged and compact water treatment equipment and products, as well as develops water parks, leisure pools and other water related features. The company was founded in 1968 and is headquartered in Dorking, UK. It has locations in Africa, the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.

MWH, globally driving the wet infrastructure sector, is leading the world in results-oriented management services, technical engineering, construction services and solutions to create a better world. The wet infrastructure sector encompasses a full range of water related projects and programs from water supply, treatment and storage, dams, water management for the natural resources industry and coastal restoration to renewable power and environmental services. MWH is a private, employee-owned firm with offices in 34 countries on six continents.
