API announced the public procurement orders for the construction of the Struma highway to Sofia through Kresna Gorge

Road Infrastructure Agency (API) launched the public procurement contracts for the design and construction of the highway to Sofia on the Struma highway in the Kresna - Krupnik section, the agency said. This section of the highway will run in the direction Kulata – Sofia and it will pass east of the Kresna Gorge on a new route. The length of the section is 23.6 km. There will be 7 tunnels, 21 viaducts, 4 knots, 12 overpasses and underpasses.

The indicative value of the order is BGN 875.3 million excluding VAT. The project is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and the national budget through OP Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014-2020.
 
The public procurement is divided into two lots, so that operations can work simultaneously, in order to be complete within the deadline of the operational programme – 2023.

 
Lot 3.2.1, which will be 13.2 km long is the section of the left lane of the highway from km 375 + 860 to km 389 + 100 and the adjacent road links. The gauge of the road is G10.50 - with two traffic lanes with a width of 3.5 m, leading strips of 0.25 m and two banches with a width of 1.5 m. In the longitudinal slope above 4% will be made a third lane for the lorries. The access to the route will be ensured through 3 road junctions:
 
Road junction "Poleto" at km 379 + 470, which will provide access from Kulata direction to the villages of Bregjani and Poleto, as well as access to the highway in the direction of Sofia.
 
Mechkull road junction at km 384 + 230, which will provide access from Kulata direction to Mechkul and Brezhani villages, as well as access to the motorway towards Sofia.
 
Stara Kresna junction at km 387 + 620, which will provide access from the direction of Kulata to the villages of Stara Kresna, Oshtava, as well as the access to the motorway towards Sofia.
 
Three tunnels - Simitli (211 m), Rakitna (1 135 m) and "Stara Kresna" (1 052 m) will be built in this section. They will have installations and systems for fire detection, ventilation, power supply, lighting, traffic management, etc. There will be built 10 viaducts with a total length of 3.5 km, as well as 3 overpasses and underpasses.
 
The indicative value of lot 3.2.1 is BGN 444 796 305 excluding VAT.
 
Lot 3.2.2, which will be 10.4 km long is the section of the left lane of the motorway from km 389 + 100 to km 399 + 500. In this lot is also included the bypass of Kresna, which is 5.5 km (from km 396 + 137 to km 401 + 691). The gauge of the road is G10.50 - with two traffic lanes with a width of 3.5 m, leading strips of 0.25 m and two banches with a width of 1.5 m. With a longitudinal slope above 4%, a third lane for the trucks is provided. In the bypass of Kresna will be built a site for short-term recreation, which will be with electricity, water and sewerage. From the site there will be a connection with the Kresna settlement.
 
There will be 4 tunnels - "Tisata" (171 m), "Sveta Nedelya" (1,3 km), tunnel "Kresna 1" / 358 m / and Kresna 2/230 m. They will have installations and systems for fire detection, ventilation, power supply, lighting, traffic control, etc. There will be 11 viaducts with an approximate length of 5 km as well as 9 overpasses and underpasses. By road junction "Kresna" - at km 401 + 640, access will be provided in direction Kulata, Sofia, road I-1.
 
The indicative value for the execution of the public procurement for lot 3.2.2 is BGN 430 525 209 excluding VAT.
 
Both traffic will be regulated by Intelligent Transport Systems and Surveillance Systems - Traffic Stations, Traffic Surveillance, Surveillance, Meteorological Surveillance and more.
 
The deadline for each procurement is 1556 days and includes the time for design and construction.
 
Candidates for design and build Lot 3.2.1 may submit their bids by 17.30 on November 8, 2018, and for Lot 3.2.2 to 17.30 on November 15, 2018.
