![]() Bulgaria against Negru Voda Mulled Cancellation as Entry Point for Russian Gas Bulgarian energy minister Nikolay Pavlov said that this clause was likely related to the upcoming end of Russia’s transit contract with Ukraine and that it could deprive Bulgaria of transit quantities and fees
Bulgaria will oppose categorically the mulled cancellation of Negru Voda in Romania as entry point for Russian natural gas into Bulgaria in favour of another border, Bulgarian energy minister Nikolay Pavlov said on Thursday during a press conference on Bulgaria’s stance on the EC-Gazprom competition probe. This solution was among the proposals of Russia’s Gazprom so that the gas giant could evade further sanctions for abuse of dominant position. Minister Pavlov said that this clause was likely related to the upcoming end of Russia’s transit contract with Ukraine and that it could deprive Bulgaria of transit quantities and fees. Bulgaria will also contest a suggested access allowance for Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, so that they can switch their current entry points in favour of Negru Voda, without a reciprocating measure for Bulgarian companies. “If this is applied, traders from these countries will have access to the Bulgarian market and if they supply large quantities, Bulgargaz would fail to abide by its contract with Gazprom Export which sets minimum summer and year-round delivery quantities”, minister Pavlov said. ![]() No published comments Login to comment |
