![]() Bulgargaz Says Gas Price in Bulgaria Is ‘the Best in the Region’ Bulgargaz also pointed out that even though Bulgaria has opened a two way gas delivery point at Kulata – Sidirokastro (Greece) and an interconnection at Rousse – Giurgiu (Romania), gas traders were only strongly interested in exporting gas from Bulgaria
The price of natural gas in Bulgaria is the best in the region and is lower compared to the most liquid gas exchanges in Europe, Bulgarian gas incumbent Bulgargaz said in a statement published on its website on Monday. The state-run company also said that the average European level for 2016, as per data of Russia’s Gazprom – Bulgaria’s sole import supplier, was USD 167/1,000 cub. m, while at the Bulgarian border with Romania it stood at USD 157/1,000 cub. m, with transit fees for Romania included. Bulgargaz also pointed out that even though Bulgaria has opened a two way gas delivery point at Kulata – Sidirokastro (Greece) and an interconnection at Rousse – Giurgiu (Romania), gas traders were only strongly interested in exporting gas from Bulgaria. Statistics from Bulgargaz show that the price of natural gas has fallen with more than 50 per cent since Q1 of 2015 when it stood at BGN 603.14/1,000 cub. m, to BGN 286.60/1,000 cub. m in Q4 of 2016. The state-run company defended the 30 per cent gas price increase for the second quarter of 2017, approved by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC).
