148 Bulgarian Companies Requested State-Aid for RES Energy

The first companies which will receive approval are fertilizers producer Biovet AD, alcoholic beverages giant Peshtera, and metallurgy products producer KCM 2000

A total of 148 Bulgarian companies have filed requests for state-aid in order to decrease their expenses for renewable energy, the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy said for Publics.bg. This number includes all companies which requested state-aid for the current and the previous electricity pricing period.

The Ordonnance for the alleviations for the Bulgarian industry entered into force on October 4, 2016, after it was notified by the European Commission.

The scheme will be applicable for a period of five years, retroactively as of August 1, 2015. Requests for the past pricing period (Aug 1, 2015 – Jun 30, 2016) were accepted up to 15 days after October 4, while requests for the current pricing period, as of Jul 1, 2016, - could be submitted over a period of 30 days.
The first companies which will receive approval are pharmaceuticals producer Biovet AD, alcoholic beverages giant Peshtera, and metallurgy products producer KCM 2000.

The total yearly amount of the state-aid is up to BGN 100 million (about EUR 50 million).
