SUEZ’s contract to operate and maintain the Prospect drinking water treatment plant in Sydney has been extended. With joint venture partner UniSuper1, the contract has been extended for 14 years, from 2021 to 2035, and is valued at approximately AUD 1 billion.

The Prospect Water Filtration Plant is one of the world’s largest water filtration plants, with a capacity to provide drinking water for up to 85% of the consumption of Sydney’s population, making it one of Sydney’s most critical pieces of infrastructure.

Sydney Water’s Managing Director, Kevin Young, said the extension is credited to SUEZ’s strong track record of operational excellence from the initial construction of the plant through to the quality of water produced.
