05.01.2015 16:48- Chiren gas storage awaits modernisation

Kiril Temelkov, CEO of the state gas transport grid operator Bulgartransgaz, has been dismissed. The position will be taken over by Georgi Gegov, who has previous managerial experience at the state-owned gas supply company Bulgargaz and its fellow Bulgarian Energy Holding subsidiary – Bulgartransgaz. Gegov has also been at the helm of the project company South Stream Bulgaria.
The reason for the change, as cited by the company, is the need to speed up the construction of gas interconnections with neighbouring countries, as well as the modernisation of Bulgaria's sole gas storage "Chiren", near the town of Vratsa.
The board of directors has also been substituted, with Tania Zaharieva becoming the chairperson, and Delian Dimitrov – a regular member.
The decision was taken by Bulgartransgaz’s freshly appointed new supervisory board as early as Dec 17, but the company had to wait until Dec 29 for the approval of the energy watchdog, as it is being certified as an independent gas network operator and has to comply with certain conflict of interest conditions.
The decision enters into force following its publishing in the Commercial Register.
