Electricity prices for households and small industrial consumers on the regulated market will certainly increase as of October 1, while the prices of central heating and water supply will most likely remain at current levels, Svetla Todorova, chairperson of the Bulgarian State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (SEWRC) commented today for representatives of the local media.
The energy watchdog will not approve the 1.6% gas price hike requested by state-owned Bulgargaz, which would allow for keeping the heating prices unchanged.
By the end of the month the commission will have exact data about the financial deficits at the struggling National Electricity Company (NEK), Todorova said, as quoted by pressadaily.bg. She went on to say that “some of the actions of the commission under Boev taken against the three electricity supply companies, managed by local branches of Czech Energo-Pro and CEZ and Austria’s EVN, were not fully legal.
Todorova succeeded ex-regulatory commission chief Boyan Boev who stepped down following a conflict of interest, established in early September. Two more commissionaires were also dismissed and replaced for similar reasons.
