Waste-to-Energy – Technologies, Projects, New Options for Municipalities and Business

The goal of the Conference is to give awareness to the municipalities and the business about new possibilities, the advanced technologies and the multiple effects coming from energy utilization of different types of wastes and biomass stipulated in the Act for the energy from renewables.

In open discussion the participants will get information about different applications of technologies, advantages and specificity of different completed projects and their performance characteristics. Different technologies will be presented by prominent equipment suppliers – direct burning, high temperature gasification and anaerobic fermentation, presenting as well their good practices in different projects. The participants will have the possibility to raise questions after each presentation, related to practical implementation of the technology, project performance characteristics and possible financing.

Qualified simultaneous translation from English/Bulgarian will be available.


08:30 – 9:00: Official opening and welcome speeches

9:00 – 10:45: Panel 1: Regulatory framework, state & municipal waste management strategies
- Regulatory framework to be presented by Energy & Water Regulatory Commission
- Presentations of municipal strategies for wastes treatment and energy utilization
- Presentation of State Forest Agency of their strategy for forest wood residues utilization for energy production
- Presentation of results from analyses of the impact of the power generation from biomass and wastes on final energy prices and the environment      

10:45 – 11:15: Coffee break

11:15 – 13:00: Panel 2: Technologies & projects 

13:00 – 14:00: Lunch, offered by the organizers

14:00 – 15:30: Panel 3: Options for financing of waste utilization projects and project feasibility

15:30 – 15:45: Coffee break

15:45 – 16:45: Discussions and closing remarks


The corporate participation fee is 690 BGN (352 euro) with VAT included for up to 3 representatives from company to be paid by 30 August 2015, which cover all organizational expenses, coffee breaks, the cocktail and copy of conference discussions voice record.

There is 20% discount of the participation fee for early registration until 30 July 2015
Representatives of diplomatic bodies, state & municipal administration and academic institutions are exempt of payment fee.

The fee is to be paid through bank transfer to the account of the organizer.
