NewsFrom Bulgaria28.03.2013 17:35 Competition Commission Launched Antitrust Investigation of Energy Companies The CPC is investigating whether the three electricity utilities committed collusion by negotiating common practices which would prevent consumers from changing their supplier
The Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition (CPC) launched an investigation on alleged collusion practices of the three regional electricity distributing companies run by CEZ, EVN and Energo-Pro. The CPC announced that it will be scrutinizing the results of today’s visit in offices of the companies and their branches, as well as the Energy Management Institute (an NGO of the above mentioned electricity utilities and gas supplier Overgas) and the Association of Electricity Traders in Bulgaria (ATEB).
A statement from the CPC released today read that the investigation is coordinated with the DG Competition’s Antitrust, energy and environment department in the European Commission. The CPC is investigating whether the three electricity utilities committed collusion by negotiating common practices which would prevent consumers from changing their supplier.
The CPC warned that it is yet to confirm whether there is enough evidence for an actual legal infringement and collusion. The conclusions of the CPC will be presented to the DG Competition after which the Bulgarian Commission will issue its final statement. No published comments Login to comment |
