Sofia Metro: New Trains and Almost Finished New Line (Photoreport)
Serdika 2 and Lions Bridge stations seem to posess the most impressive design

  • The new trains were obtained thanks to funding from OP Transport, the Cohesion Fund of the EU and local financing
  • Serdika 2 station will be connected to the old part of the Serdika station
  • Lions Bridge station replicates the massive sculptures above ground and offers a unique pedestrian passage overlooking the rails, all in a modernized secession style
  • The Central Train Station stop with a more minimal design
  • Princess Maria Louse station continues the minimal design in pastel tones
  • Khan Kubrat station is fully finished
  • The terminus at Nadezhda station

Today the new trains for the Sofia metro were presented. Sofia mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Bulgarian minister of transport and communications Ivailo Moskovski, the CEO of the Metropolitan company and the present journalists had the opportunity to try first the new trains from Sofia University station to the new part of Serdika station. There they switched to a draisine in order to inspect the second metro line which is still under construction.
 
The guests of the ceremony were impressed the most by the design of the Serdika 2 and Lions Bridge stations.
 
At the end of their course, the guests had the opportunity to see the fully completed stations in Nadezhda district.
