The State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission today proposed a new tariff scheme for water consumption, consisting in prices rising with consumption volume. The aim is to stimulate water savings.

We will have to approve price increase most likely in small municipal water supply companies, where the tariffs have been kept low for too long, Angel Semerdzhiev, head of the regulator stated, quoted by Darik.

He added that the water prices in the capital are very unlikely to go up.
