Gazprom: Castoro Sei Prepares for Laying the Marine Pipes of Turkish Stream

Castoro Sei has departed from berth 32 at Port Burgas on the evening of June 30 and should reach Anapa in five days

The pipe layer platform Castoro Sei (Italian for Beaver Six) owned by Italy’s Saipem has sailed off of the Bulgarian port of Burgas, destination Anapa, Russia, at the Eastern Black Sea coast. The Castoro Sei is preparing for the offshore pipe-laying of the planned Turkish Stream pipeline, RIA Novosti reported, citing information from Russia’s Gazprom.

The information is also confirmed by vessel tracking online platforms. Castoro Sei has departed from berth 32 at Port Burgas on the evening of June 30 and should reach Anapa in five days. It is accompanied by two supply vessels, data from the trackings services suggests.

Gazprom has engaged two Saipem vessels – Castoro Sei and Saipem 7000, for the construction of the now mothballed South Stream gas pipeline project, unofficially terminated by the Russian side. Saipem has announced on May 8 that Gazprom has extended its contract for the two vessels for the expected construction of Turkish Stream.
