Lufthansa Technik AG and Wizz Air have further expanded their close cooperation with a five year exclusive contract covering about 150 C-checks on more than 80 Airbus A320 aircraft of Central and Eastern Europe`s largest low-fares carrier. Beginning in March, the maintenance work ranging from C1 up to C4/C8 will be carried out by Lufthansa Technik Budapest.

Specializing in line and base maintenance of narrow-body aircraft, the Budapest facility within Lufthansa Technik`s worldwide network is set up following most modern standards of lean production and quality management, thus ensuring Wizz Air short turnaround times and most competitive prices with the high quality level of services Lufthansa Technik is known for.

In the hangar of Lufthansa Technik Budapest at Ferihegy Airport, four narrow-body aircraft can undergo a C-check simultaneously in two hangar bays. In both docks the aircraft can be painted on the spot without being pulled into a special painting hangar, saving time and money. Numerous workshops, for example for non destructive testing, cabin interiors or flight controls, are also located on the company’s premises with more than 12,000 square meters.

‘We are pleased with our long standing cooperation with Lufthansa Technik and its Budapest team. The new contract is in line with our cost expectation and secures the needed level of expertise and flexibility for our growing fleet. The Budapest facility of Lufthansa Technik, centrally located within the Wizz Air network, allows for easy access to the whole fleet and thus further contributing to efficiency that is so indispensable for our business” said József Váradi, Chief Executive Officer of Wizz Air.
“We are proud that one of our largest customers, Wizz Air has decided to continue the cooperation with Lufthansa Technik Budapest. The new contract means a clear acknowledgment of the excellent professional knowledge, punctuality and flexibility of our team,” said Elmar Lutter, CEO of Lufthansa Technik Budapest.

The recently signed agreement carries forward a long and successful business relationship between Wizz Air and Lufthansa Technik that dates back to the very beginning of the carrier’s operations in 2004. In addition to an exclusive Total Component Support TCS® for Wizz Air`s entire fleet signed in 2009, Lufthansa Technik is already providing engineering services for the airline as well as line maintenance, also carried out at Lufthansa Technik Budapest.
