The gas interconnectors with Turkey and Greece are the shortest route for Azeri natural gas transit to Bulgaria, energy minister Traicho Traikov said during a meeting with his Azeri colleague Natig Aliyev in Baku.
He added that the interconnector with Greece was more advanced and that it would be operational in end-2013.
The two ministers also discussed the possibilities for CNG and LNG deliveries with tankers across the Black Sea to the Bulgarian port in Burgas. Traikov also pointed out the importance of coordination of gas delivery projects in the region for the realization of the interconnectors.
The two ministers agreed on setting up joint meetings with Turkey and Greece which should help speed up the construction of the required gas infrastructure.
During Traikov’s visit in Baku he also discussed with Aliyev the preparation of a roadmap of energy projects outside the gas sector between the Bulgarian Energy Holding and Azerbaijan’s state gas and oil company SOKAR.
Aliyev stressed that Azerbaijan disposes of 750 bn cub. meters of gas deposits and the country has substantial export capacity. ![]() No published comments Login to comment |
