![]() BICA Wants Bulgaria to Request Single Gas Price for the EU from Gazprom Energy minister said that state-run Bulgarian Energy Holding and its subsidiaries Bulgargaz and Bulgartransgaz are analyzing the sugestions by Gazprom and their estimated effect on Bulgaria’s existing contracts with the Russian gas giant
A single natural gas price from Gazprom for the EU, solely differing by transport costs from country to country, should be backed by the Bulgarian government in the EU-Gazprom antimonopoly negotiations, the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) said in a statement on Tuesday. The BICA statement was sent to the interim ministers of energy and economy and comes as a response to a letter by energy minister Nikolay Pavlov to BICA, asking for an opinion. Meanwhile interim PM Ognian Gerdzhikov met with representatives of New Republic party on the matter. Minister Pavlov who was also present at the meeting informed that state-run Bulgarian Energy Holding and its subsidiaries Bulgargaz and Bulgartransgaz are analyzing the sugestions by Gazprom and their estimated effect on Bulgaria’s existing contracts with the Russian gas giant. It is possible that they request an extension of the reply period, a statement following the meeting said. Bulgaria is expected to present its opinion on May 4. Representatives of the three state-run companies are to attend an international natural gas forum on Wednesday in Warsaw organized by the Polish energy ministry. Bulgaria and Poland are among eight Eastern European countries which fall within the scope of the EU’s antitrust probe against Gazprom. ![]() No published comments Login to comment |
