More than a million people are said to be affected by the disaster.

“We are ready to organize regular electricity supply to Serbia, as we understand that all of the country’s major power plants are affected by the floods”, Bulgaria’s deputy prime minister Daniela Bobeva said, as quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.

She précised that Bulgaria’s has already started emergency electricity exports when needed, according to an existing memorandum for such assistance. Serbia's largest power plant - the coal-fired Nikola Tesla, which supplies half of the country and most of the capital Belgrade, is under threat, among others.
