NewsFrom Bulgaria18.03.2014 22:06 Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association Pleas for the Creation of an Energy Board This idea follows the escalation of a quarrel between the Bulgarian energy regulator and electric utilities, managed by CEZ, EVN and Energo-pro, over mutual debts related to buying up renewable energy which is sold at higher preferential prices
The Bulgarian Photovoltaic Association (BPVA) released a statement, launching the idea of an energy board with the support of reputed international institutions, “such as the European Commission, the World Bank, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which could secure the financing needed for the stabilization and restructuring of the Bulgarian energy sector”. This idea follows the escalation of a quarrel between the Bulgarian energy regulator and electric utilities, managed by CEZ, EVN and Energo-pro, over mutual debts related to buying up renewable energy which is sold at higher preferential prices. BPVA did not spare its critics towards the lack of consistency in state energy policy, blaming the unfounded electricity price cuts and the investment engagements in large energy projects (e.g. new nuclear units) of the government, which further worsened the financial situation of the state-owned energy companies.
