Today Valentin Nikolov, CEO of Kozloduy NPP, welcomed an OSART mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Agency will carry out an inspection of the currently functioning energy units 5 and 6, 1000-megawatts each. The inspection was initiated by the Bulgarian government and is scheduled to continue until Dec 13.
A total of 13 nuclear energy experts from Belgium, the U.K., Germany, Canada, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine, Finland, the Czech Republic, and Sweden will be carrying out different tests in order to check the current levels of management, exploitation, repair works, radiation safety and disaster alertness at Kozloduy.
With a strong focus on safety culture, the IAEA inspection is aimed at offering improvements wherever they are needed.
