Sofia district heating utility Toplofikatsia posted earnings of BGN 23 m (about EUR 16 m). The utility expected instead losses of some BGN 7 m. From the utility explained the good financial results with the decreased losses of heat during transportation and the significant cut of business costs.

 

This year Toplofikatsia intends to focus on infrastructure upgrades and major overhauls, conserning Sofia East thermal power plant in particular. This summer the power station will go offline for 15 days for a planned overhaul. During this period Mladost and Druzhba districts will not have hot water supply. It is yet unclear when exactly the power station will stop operating.
